How We Rank Contractors

Our ranking methodology is transparent, objective, and designed to surface the best local contractors — not the ones who pay us the most.

The Core Principle: No Pay-to-Rank

Contractors cannot pay to rank higher in our listings. Unlike some platforms that sell top placement, our ordering is determined entirely by objective signals: license status, Google ratings, review volume, recency, and geographic relevance.

This means the contractor at the top of our list earned that position through customer satisfaction — not advertising spend.

Ranking Factors

License Verification

Required

Every contractor must hold an active, valid state license for their trade. We cross-reference listings against the Florida DBPR database. Unlicensed contractors are not listed, regardless of reviews or reputation.

Google Rating & Review Count

Primary

We surface real Google ratings and review counts directly from Google Business profiles. Contractors with higher ratings and more reviews rank higher within their trade category. We do not manufacture or curate reviews.

Review Recency

Secondary

A contractor with 50 reviews from the past year ranks higher than one with 50 reviews from 5 years ago. Recency signals active operation and current customer satisfaction.

Geographic Relevance

Secondary

Contractors are matched to the city and subregion where they primarily operate. A roofer based in Winter Park ranks higher on Winter Park pages than one based in Kissimmee.

Profile Completeness

Tertiary

Contractors with complete profiles — including phone, address, website, business hours, and service descriptions — rank higher than those with incomplete information.

What We Don't Do

  • Sell top placement or featured listings to contractors
  • Manufacture, filter, or suppress customer reviews
  • Accept payment in exchange for higher rankings
  • List unlicensed contractors regardless of reviews
  • Sell homeowner contact information to multiple contractors simultaneously

For Contractors: How to Improve Your Ranking

The best way to rank higher on Get Trusted Contractors is the same as ranking higher on Google: earn more positive reviews from satisfied customers, keep your license active, and maintain a complete business profile.

  • Maintain an active, valid state license for your trade
  • Ask satisfied customers to leave Google reviews
  • Keep your Google Business Profile complete and up to date
  • Respond to negative reviews professionally
  • Ensure your business address and service area are accurate
